We’ve just returned from a holiday along with our kids – a gorgeous villa within the La Manga region of Spain. The men played some golf, the ladies worshipped sunlight and the kids utterly loved playing in the pool! Utter bliss. In fact, I think the Father’s preferred playing within the swimming pool with the kids rather than playing golf poorly!
However we have a tip that we thought was worth posting and not only made life easier however the children loved it as well – we used hooded kids towels around the swimming pool to enable getting the kids dried without causing lots of hassle! We found this much simpler than big beach towels.
We used a lot of sunscreen and also protective bathing suits (including one very cool all in one diving suit type outfit for our two year old), but this still left us thinking how we got the kids dried. Dead easy as it turns out. We left the towels on a sun lounger and whenever we wanted to get the child out of the pool, got them to the end, whipped off their soaked swimming gear and wrapped them up in a hooded towel. We used sun protective towels too which meant the little one’s skin remained protected from the sun’s UV rays.
By rapidly wrapping the child, we got all of them dried off too while making them look really cute! In fact, many of our best photographs from the break are the ones of the children wrapped up in their towels, faces peaking out whilst having a refreshing drink or ice lolly – they look seriously cute!
Knowing the towels are sun resilient too meant we didn’t have to stress about rapidly getting suncream onto damp skin. The children got wrapped up, got on a sun bed and then once they’d had a little rest, we creamed them up again and off they went playing.
For a parent on a beach or perhaps round the swimming pool, keeping things easy is actually key to being able to enjoy yourself too. It is your holiday as well! There’s nothing worse then getting all flustered and the children getting upset when the temperatures are soaring high – why not make life and the holiday easier by packing something which you already have at home?!
